“And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly to the past.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Shot at Villa Vizcaya, the winter residence built in 1916 by industrialist James Deering, these images dwell in the beauty of imperfection. Lingering in spaces where time has left its mark, cracks, patina, erosion, and softness are not treated as flaws, but as proof of enduring beauty, memory, and life. Once envisioned as a monument to opulent perfection, the property now speaks more powerfully through its weathering, its surfaces shaped by salt air and the inevitable passage of time. These images suggest that to look back is not an act of nostalgia, but an essential way of appreciating the present.
Using a Hasselblad camera, primarily in black and white, for its timeless, dramatic yet minimalistic qualities, my work focuses on the belief that great art is the expression of those beauties and emotions that stir the human soul.
Traditional printing at its finest on archival C-metallic photographic paper.
